33 King William Street is a 9 storey building, containing 21,000 sq metres of modern open plan office space, with a double-height reception entrance and an expansive roof garden that offers panoramic views of London. This building required refurbishment, and the contract was awarded to HB Reavis, an international commercial property developer specialising in offices and other workspaces.

CLM Fireproofing was asked to assemble a service package for applying intumescent paint to the entire building. Our operatives are some of the UK’s foremost experts in intumescent fireproofing, helping to extend the time in which a building can withstand extensive fire damage.
The intumescent paint application was programmed to take place while 33 King William Street was open to the elements. With fluctuating temperatures and weather conditions, there was a risk of the intumescent paint either being damaged or leaving residue on surrounding buildings.
CLM Fireproofing implemented a series of measures to handle these risks. First, we selected a specific paint that was impregnable to the elements and had a fast drying time. What was particularly notable about this paint is that it could withstand very cold temperatures. This meant that the application would continue at the same rate throughout the winter months. Finally, our team erected specialist sheeting around 33 King William Street, preventing any overspray of the intumescent paint to nearby buildings and sites.
